Accreditation is an official process through which a public or government-backed organisation:
Sets the minimum educational standards a massage school must follow.

At SMT, we carefully reviewed several UK massage accreditation bodies to find the one that aligned best with our educational values.
We sought a top-level accreditation that gave us the freedom to teach with depth, creativity, and adaptability. Some associations we considered had rigid frameworks. For instance, one well-known organisation required all students to learn a single, fixed massage routine for every client.
We were thrilled to receive approval from the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), one of the UK’s most respected professional bodies with thousands of active members.
To meet FHT’s high standards, our diploma course was required to fully align with the UK National Occupational Standards (NOS) for massage: CNH1, CNH2, and CNH7.
Most importantly, this diploma is also recognised by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK’s regulatory body for complementary health practitioners. Established with government backing, the CNHC enforces the highest professional standards. It is also approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, which reports directly to UK Parliament.
As confirmed on the NHS.UK: “The CNHC has met the demanding standards.”

Register as a practitioner with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the leading regulatory body for complementary therapies in the UK.
Choose to join a wide range of massage associations in the UK and internationally.
Work across the UK and in most other countries—in settings such as private practices, spas, cruise ships, beauty clinics, physiotherapy or osteopathy clinics, the NHS, and even Buckingham Palace (with an invitation, of course 👑).
Obtain massage therapist insurance to practise professionally in the UK and abroad. We work with trusted providers like Balens and Westminster Indemnity, and will guide you toward the right policy based on your needs.
Apply for a massage licence exemption with most UK councils—essential if you plan to open a massage clinic, especially in cities like London or Birmingham.
